Ernesto did his undergraduate studies in the department of anthropology at the University of Brasília from 1999 to 2003. In 2003 started with Tiago Campos Torres the Zumbayllu audiovisual collective, that produced the documentary "In the Palace of the Queen". In 2004 coordinated with Tiago a video workshop in the National Movement of Street Children (MNMMR) inspired by the Video in the Villages method; the workshop had the video "Finding Aroldo" as its outcome. In 2005, directed with Carlos Henrique Romão de Siqueira "Under the sign of justice", on the the struggle for affirmative action for black students in the University of Brasília. Ernesto received his MA from Federal University of Pernambuco in 2007 with a dissertation on musical transformation in the baque-virado maracatus of Recife, and is currently a PhD student in the department of anthropology at New York University (NYU). With Video in the Villages he has given workshops on filming and editing (macuxi, guarani, hunikui) and edited films. In the beginning of 2009 Ernesto has been dedicated to the mobilization of projects and resources for the Hunikui people.
