Indians in Brazil. 6. First contacts
2000 / 17min.
The conquering process initiated by Cabral hasn’t stopped and proceeded with the occupation of the Central Highlands in the 50’s and the Amazon in the 70’s. Archive shoots show the “pacification” of the Xavantes People, the Cinta Larga People in Rondônia state and the Parakanas in the south of Pará state and how this catastrophic contact that decimated its population. Finally, we see the case of small groups undermined by the development of the southern region of Rondônia state up to the last survivor of a people that refuses to make contact in the year 2000.
